IdeaPad laptops 5G, Following the announcement of the Tab P11 tablet, Lenovo is continuing its CES show with multiple laptops – all portable but also quite powerful. The laptops are powered by all types of CPUs – from a Snapdragon chipset to an Intel CPU to an AMD Ryzen H series with Nvidia RTX graphics.
Lenovo IdeaPad laptops 5G connected

This 14-inch laptop is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx chipset, a 7nm part with full support for Windows 10. In addition, the low TDP enables a fanless design and absolutely quiet operation.
The laptop is equipped with an X55 modem which offers fast 5G connectivity (the Sub-6 variant) and potentially a significant increase in speed if you have a fast 5G network nearby. A bit disappointing is that it only supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for home connections.
The laptop itself has a 14-inch screen with narrow bezels. The 1080p IPS LCD panel promises 300 nits of brightness and 100% sRGB coverage. There are also user-specific speakers that are optimized for voice and video calls with Dolby Audio and dual-array microphones.
The laptop weighs only 1.2 kg and is 14.9 mm thick. This is possible with a 51 WHr battery, which enables continuous video playback for 20 hours (note: local video when the 5G modem is switched off). The charging process takes place via USB-C with the 65 W Rapid Charge Express power pack.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 5G will be launching shortly in select markets, but will not be available in North America (at least not initially). Prices are TBA and vary by region.
Lenovo IdeaPad 4G / LTE
If you don’t have 5G up the neck of the woods (or want to save some cash) it’s a similar 14-inch laptop that falls down on top of the Snapdragon 8c chipset. It only offers 4G connectivity, but that can be fast enough for your needs.
The laptop can be configured with up to 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and a PCIe SSD with up to 512 GB capacity.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Pro (with Intel)
If you’re not ready to get on the Windows on ARM train, the IdeaPad 5i Pro uses an 11th generation Intel Core processor (up to i7). The all-metal laptop comes in two sizes – 14-inch and 16-inch, weighing 1.45 kg and 2 kg, respectively. Both screens have an aspect ratio of 16:10.
The larger 16-inch laptop has a 2.5 KB display with an option for a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The IPS LCD panel can achieve a brightness of up to 350 nits. The 14-inch display is sharper and brighter with a resolution of 2.8 KB and 400 nits. This one has an option for a refresh rate of 90Hz (you can press Fn + R to switch to HRR mode).
Configuration options include up to Intel Core i7 11th Gen and Nvidia MX450 graphics. With the Lenovo Q-Control feature, you can press Fn + Q to toggle between maximum performance and battery saver mode. You can install 16 GB DDR4 RAM in the laptop and an SSD with up to 1 TB (PCIe M.2).
The 14-inch model has a 56.5 Whr battery, the 16-inch model has a larger 75 WHr capacity and can be charged via the Thunderbolt 4 port. Oh, and these have Wi-Fi 6 on board.
Interestingly, the laptops have a 3D ToF sensor and Glance software from Mirametrix that monitors that you’re paying attention and can automatically pause the video when you move away from the laptop.
The Intel-based IdeaPad 5 Pro models will be available in March in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). The 16-inch model starts at 900 euros, the 14-inch model from 700 euros. They will not be available in North America. Lenovo IdeaPad laptops 5G

You can use these laptops with an AMD Ryzen H-series processor instead (exact configurations will be announced shortly). These are again available with 14 ”90 Hz and 16” 120 Hz displays.
This 16-inch Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro features optional Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics and up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM. This makes it a gaming laptop and the 120Hz screen isn’t wasted (the 14-inch model only gets an MX450 GPU).
The availability of the Ryzen-based IdeaPads is split. The 16-inch model is on its way to North America. It will start at $ 1,150 and is expected to be available in stores in May. The 14-inch model will not be found in North America, but instead goes to EMEA and starts in March for 800 euros.
