MIUI 12.5 update is now available for the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE ‘Global’ variant, which is based on Android 11. In early 2019, Xiaomi launched the Mi 9 SE, the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 smartphone. It debuted alongside the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition (aka Mi 9 Transparent Edition).
MIUI 10 was pre-installed on the device, which is based on Android 9.0 Pie. It was later updated to MIUI 11, then to Android 11, and finally to MIUI 12. The handset has begun receiving the MIUI 12.5 update in international markets two years after its release.
MIUI 12.5 update
Xiaomi began rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update for the Mi 9 SE’s Chinese variant in late March. Additionally, the update brought Android 11 to this phone, as the company confirmed in December 2020.

The same update has begun seeding for this smartphone’s internal variants. Currently, the MI 9 SE’s ‘Global’ variant is receiving the Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 latest update with build number V12.5.1.0.RFBMIXM.
The software build referenced above is labeled ‘Stable’. As a result, the update should theoretically be available for all units of the Mi 9 SE Global variant. In any case, because OTA updates are known to be staged, it may take some time for them to reach all units.
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE’s remaining two international variants, namely ‘EEA’ and ‘Russia,’ should receive the MIUI 12.5 update based on Android 11 in the coming days.
